ADVOCACY
Zonta is a powerful advocate for change in our local and international communities, thereby transforming the world and women’s place in it. Zonta’s ongoing efforts to end violence against women and girls at the international level are carried out in partnerships with the United Nations and its agencies through the Zonta International Strategies Against Women (ZISVAW) Program.
Here are a few examples:
ZONTA SAYS NO TO VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
“Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women” is a Zonta International campaign to raise awareness of and increase actions to end violence against women and girls around the world.
SIXTEEN DAYS OF ACTIVISM
The two Zonta Clubs on Kauai join Zonta International in its “16 Days of Advocacy” Campaign which takes place each year from November 25 through December 10. The campaign’s goal is to reinforce that violence against women is a human rights violation.
DENIM DAY
Members and the community wear jeans each April on Denim Day to protest against stereotypical attitudes about rape victims.
EQUAL PAY DAY
This date symbolizes how far into the year women must work to earn what men earned in the previous year. The next Equal Pay Pay is March 24, 2021.
